Here’s a clue as to where we might go today.

It’s very windy so you may not want to sit on the top deck.

Freshwater Bay

A stroll up the road leads us to a lovely home…

Clues to the talent of the home’s owner

Who visited her?

You have probably guessed we are in the nineteenth century during the reign of Queen Victoria and Freshwater Bay was definitely the place to be.

At home with Julia Margaret Cameron

This would be a cool place to visit.

It certainly is Darlene. First time I visited we ‘discovered’ it and this time I was set on vising it again. It also has a nice café!

Hello Liz, it was like being inside her photo album with lots of famous people you may or may not recognise.

As a teenager, I spent a summer near Plymouth. I remember the beaches so well. They have a different kind of beauty.

Yes our coastline is very varied and every stretch with a beauty of its own.

Thanks Robbie, Julia had a very varied life and lived at Dimbola for a relatively short time but made a big impact

Hello Carol, yes that corner of the Isle of Wight is beautiful and of course it’s always nice to have somewhere interesting and warm to drop in for coffee.

That bus journey looks a treat in itself. But the house at the end makes it even better.

Yes it is, a circular trip with a scary bit where the bus drives along the very edge of the rolling downs… the bus driver said he had done it hundreds of times!

I have never been to the IOW, but have heard of the home of the famous female photographer.
Best wishes, Pete.

I hadn’t heard of her so it was a lovely surprise to come across this house the first time a few years back, so I made sure we went there on last year’s trip.

Very fresh, no wonder they record record wind speeds at The Needles!
