How was your Christmas? Did you see Father Christmas?

Did you get the gifts you wanted?

Did you have any unusual presents?

You may well have had a radio controlled lizard as Amazon apparently sold out.

Perhaps you had a gift voucher for an outdoor sauna in the fog, with the opportunity to sit in a barrel of cold water or thrash yourself with branches.

Train sets are always popular in a variety of sizes…

Especially one that goes with your new Lego set

Or maybe you had something unusual…

…such as a sarcophagus…
What was the most unusual present you gave or received?

It’s funny how you might not even know what you want until a loved one gets it for you:)

Aw, it sounds like there is a lovely story behind that statement! 🙂

Yes, the Beatles Golden Book!

We stuck with ordinary this Christmas. We have no room for sarcophagi and suchlike.

I got myself a Keela waterproof jacket!
My strangest gift from hubs was a sprung truck seat for my birthday, plus kinetic recovery ropes and shackles, and a 20 tonne bottle jack.
I was delighted.
If we ever get our truck stuck in the mud or need to change a wheel, they are a girl’s best friend! 🙂

I bet that was hard to wrap up!

I’m not a Star Wars fan, so I was a little surprised to be given a Millennium Falcon jigsaw. All silver – tricky, tiny black line design that made me squint, 201 pieces. Did it over two days.
The biggest smile, though, came when the missus and I found we had given each other the same book! Alan Bennett’s Killing Time. She read it last night; I got through it in 4 or 5 hours today.

I was horrified at the thought of doing that puzzle until you said 201 pieces.
Alas I didn’t get Alan Bennet’s book.

We are very boring with gifts now, as we have too much ‘stuff’ so only get useful things. That means we both know what we are getting, and sometimes even order them for ourselves and hand them over for wrapping. So, no surprises!
Happy new year to you, Janet.
Best wishes, Pete.

My daughter, her partner and her daughter sent me a box full of little gifts – sweets, biscuits, nibbles, a cocktail and a mug. So lovely to open lots of small buut thoughtful gifts!

I currently own an inflated spiky porcupinefish that one of my brothers gave to one of my sisters (who was in her early 20’s at the time) for Christmas on a family ski trip where we drew names to exchange one gift each. I think the fish is cool but it basically ruined my sister’s holiday that year!
