We all love Southbourne, but today we’re going to jump on the bus and head for Bournemouth town centre.

What’s happening in the lower gardens?

We’re visiting Bournemouth Writing Festival which is a great festival with loads of things happening all weekend, but we only have time to pop into the poetry hub on the bandstand where you can write a contribution for the community poem or buy a poem from a machine kindly lent by the National Trust.

Time to go for a wander.

Of course we are bound to come across more mermaid tails.

Now up to Bournemouth Square wot’s round.

Waterstone’s cafe, one of the venues for the festival and a good coffee stop any time.

Suitably refreshed take a walk in the central gardens.

And some surprises

These are fun art, Janet. The tail trail in interesting.

Some excellent examples of ‘Good Graffiti’. So much nicer than tags or scrawls, it can really elevate an urban environment.
Best wishes, Pete.

This is a town of tails, Janet? We have a town of gingers and a town of cats here.

Hello Chen, our mermaid tails are only here till June, but we are having fun trying to find all forty five of them. Then auctioned off for the Julia’s House charity. The town of cats sounds interesting.

A fun post, Janet. I love how the arts are supported in the UK

Yes Robbie if you read about cut backs in the press you would think nothing was happening, but plenty of things do happen and there is support.

Glad to see you got some tails and graffiti as a bonus at the writing festival!
Sorry I didn’t see you there 🙂 I was only able to go on Friday afternoon, but it was brilliant, as usual.
Thanks for sharing, I always feel uplifted by your posts.

Yes we’re so impressed with the whole thing, there was a big buzz.. Even if we don’t go to many of the events, the mere fact that there are lots of people and venues taking part is great. Glad you enjoy my posts.
