The benches are a good idea, but I can also imagine them putting off some people who just want to rest quietly without ‘making a statement’, or chatting to anyone. As long as there are other benches nearby, that’s fine.
Empty or used the benches are a lot more fun than plain metal ones. I have seen all sorts of knitted or crocheted toys (not sure that’s the right word) labelled emotional support whatever. I’m not sure it would support me very well – I want a nice person on the chatty bench. But it takes all sorts I suppose.
Yes I like colourful benches. I was wondering if it was better to sit down first or wait till someone was sitting there and judge if you wanted to chat to them!

There weren’t! It’s a handy meeting spot opposite M&S and quite busy, so not peaceful.

I’d be afraid to sit on the chatty bench in case nobody came to chat because then I would definitely know that I am the problem!

I think I would sit first but have an excuse ready in case someone sat down with me who was very boring or made me uneasy!

Hello Liz, yes I liked the benches, but had to loiter a bit to wait for people, to get off them. Yes emotional support plants need to be tough.
