    1. Yes, the best part is no cars allowed and only a twenty minute ferry ride from busy Poole. The last ferry back is five pm so it must be very quiet when all the visitors have left.

      1. The islands in New Hampshire and Vermont are in lakes, so I think they’re too small to support a bear population. Plenty of bear sightings in other places in the states, though, including my neighborhood.

      1. Years ago we had a Canadian girl at work ( her husband worked for the Canadian embassy ) and there were two things that astounded her – nobody had snow chains for their cars and nobody had heard of the city she came from!

      2. I wonder what city that might have been. And tire chains aren’t needed here in Victoria, except for trips into the mountains or winter road trips to distant places.
