Hello Pete, yes it was a classic car event, they have them about five times a year at this spot and in lots of places. In the morning when I was on my way somewhere else and didn’t have time to look around, it was packed and very noisy with lots of fumes! Luckily there were some cars left in the afternoon.
I just looked up the website. Our council encouraging us to rekindle the lockdown spirit. My neighbours are very friendly and we do help each other. But we are not very good at organising street parties etc!
All is well Pete, it is a cinema and theatre. It did have a period as a Bingo Hall before we lived here, but it was rescued. It is better than the BIG cinemas. If a good ( especially British ) film is popular they put on more showings. Also do those live broadcasts from the opera house etc. Yesterday I saw a ‘screen event’ about the paintings of John Singer Sargent. … And you can get a cup of coffee for £1.50 during the day in the foyer.
Great pictures. I particularly liked the Moggie and the cinema.

The slogan used to be “Christchurch, where time is pleasant”. Pace yourself everybody!
I particularly like your picture of the upturned boats.

Must have been an old car show recently. It’s cool to see older vehicles sporting a clean look.

The Art Deco comedy club building is a real delight. Just a shame that it is no longer a cinema.
Best wishes, Pete.
