    1. Yes the red and green leaves are the Pieris. They seem to do well around here and I have noticed in some gardens they are as big as trees. Mine was in a tub in my son’s garden 225 miles away. When they were packing up to go to the USA I volunteered to adopt it. It has little white flowers, but its best moment is now.

  1. Gorgeous! Just had a walk down Branksome Chine in the sun and revelled in the camellias, azaleas, and rhodies which are just coming out, and the light shining through the leaves of multi-coloured acers!

    Sorry I missed you at Bournemouth Writing Festival. I think we only missed by about 5 minutes! I hope you enjoyed it. I thought it was brilliant and wished I could have spent more time there, but I Mark and the pups were very patient waiting for me for three hours as it was 🙂

  2. Pieris, lovely shrub – it’s the acid soil, isn’t it? Rhododendrons and azaleas do well in these parts too.
