      1. Oh I always thought that the quay was the best part of Poole. They used to have fireworks one evening every week during the summer, but that was 25 years ago.
Incidentally, the rspb used to run bird boats out of Poole.May or June. They only did a few every year. Ran along the coast about as far as Dancing Ledge. We saw all sorts of seabirds including puffins.

      2. Ah the quay, I thought you meant the island. Yes still do fireworks and all sorts on the quay. Yes still the best part of Poole, along with the Lighthouse. A lot has changed since we first visited on holiday, but still plenty of boat trips. I have been on the ferry to Swanage, that was fun.

      3. I used to love Enid Blyton as a kid so it was a dream come true to see all these inspirations. Corfe Castle, too – I used to love cycling from Salisbury over to the Purbecks.

      4. Most children love Harry Potter. My younger son liked Famous Five, I was always amused that there were so many stories that began ‘It was the start of the summer holidays.’ They must have left school when they were sixty with all the summers they had.

    1. Yes you would like it I’m sure Pete. Being a writer I naturally asked the National Trust volunteers how often people got lost. Being an island you can walk round and should eventually end up back at the boat!
