How did you end up here?

Where have you meandered this weekend?

I love you pictures. Nothing meaningless as far as I can tell.

I meandered all around my yard today doing yardwork. Now, my body is telling me it did not appreciate it. I may have to have a talk with my body and convince it that I’m 20 years younger than I am.

The best place to meander Pete, but one job leads to another…

can you have that talk with mine while you are at it Pete – it pays no attention to me!

Interesting..what is that fruit btw? I was mainly indoors. Watched a horror film and just wrote about it.

Hello Charlie, the fruit are cooking apples from the old tree in my garden. they have to be cut open first to check for tiny creatures.

Ah, I did suspect that they were apples. Unsurprisingly they look very different from the apples at the wet markets here. They’re smaller here.

What is a wet market Charlie?

Ah, I guess wet markets are a thing common in Asia. It’s a place where fresh fruits, meat (chicken/fish/pork) and vegetables are sold. They are not air conditioned and usually close by noon.

I get it, sounds like a good place to buy food that’s fresh every day.

fun fact, it’s called wet market because the floor is often wet (especially around the meat area) because of the washing of produce and melting of ice

I would definitely have to choose to sit in the naughty corner!

We sat in bullshit corner in a pub in Shropshire last week… highly apt!

We could start a trend looking out for ‘corners’ to sit in!

I like that idea too!

It seemed to be vacant, but you will never know if we went and sat there!

We’ve scooted to the east side of Scotland to avoid a monsoon! We’re enjoying watching the Falkirk Wheel, an amazing rotating boat lift, in the sunshine.
Our morning walk with the pooches took us along the Antonine Wall to Rough Castle, the remains of a Roman fort! It was amazing. I love walking in the footsteps of history.
I’ve got the lurgy, so I’m wondering whether I’m up to braving a 6 mile walk to see the Kelpies, two magnificent horse head sculptures that have been on my bucket list for years…
I feel the need to make the most of the sunshine, as it’s raining tomorrow, so I’ll probably give it a go!

Hello Jacqueline, I loved the Falkirk Wheel when we went on one of our Scottish holidays. The funny thing was I had no idea what to expect. Somehow we also missed the Kelpies which would have been another surprise as I would have expected to see Australian sheep dogs! Hope your lurgy gets better.

Thank you, I’m on the better side of the lurgy. At least the sun is shining and the walks are flat!
I’m with you on the Kelpie thing. I wondered why they were so called. Apparently, Kelpies are shape-shifting Scots or Irish mythological creatures in the form of horses who lure people into deep water to their death… so not very nice, really. Although the Kelpies sculpture also represents the magnificent Clydesdale heavy horses that were so important to industry in the area. They are beautiful gentle giants!
The sculptures are fabulous – we just sat and looked at them for ages. I adore horses, and was really taken with how well the artist captured their gentleness and spirit.

Coincidentally someone in my Pilates class yesterday had just visited the wheel and the kelpies, also with no idea what to expect. I love outdoor art where a ‘destination’ is created.

What a curious coincidence!
Falkirk has really put itself on the map with the wheel and the Kelpies. There is so much to do and see. I should do a post about it! I got some beautiful photos. I just don’t like doing things out of order, but my blog has got way behind so maybe I shouldn’t worry!

Sad to say my meanderings have been few, and very local to the house. Certainly nothing as photo-worthy as yours, Janet.
Best wishes, Pete.

My meanderings are also close to home Pete, within walking distance and my usual radius, except for the naughty corner!

My husband and I meandered up to Smuggler’s Notch today and then went in search of ice cream. As luck would have it, we found the ice cream.

Smuggler’s Notch sounds like a good place top meander to Liz.

It is! Just don’t attempt it during fall foliage season when it’s overrun with tourists.
