    1. Yes indeed Colin and with a fascinating history, like being the tallest building in Europe for centuries before the spire fell down! We should never take our great buildings for granted and the brilliant minds and hands that created them.

It was so much a part of my life that I totally took it for granted for years – the crescent of buildings in your photo was, in my youth, the living quarters for The White Hart receptionists so, being a waiter, I spent quite a few hours there – and then I wandered back into it one day and the magnificence of it all was almost overwhelming.

  1. Janet, thank you for bringing Lincoln Cathedral to us all through this beautiful post! I’ve been twice to the city and never had the time to go in although I love the beauty, peace and serenity of cathedrals. This seems to have all these elements in abundance! The doves look majestic and what a wonderful idea with the patchwork quilt, although I don’t think anyone would appreciate my efforts! 😀
