Silly Sunday – sELFies

Or a Harbinger of Doom?

      1. Around 2013, I was babysitting my grandson in a drugstore while I was printing off some pictures right before Christmas. He kept running around the store bringing me things he thought I should buy. They were expensive and we did not need them. Finally he brought me an Elf on the Shelf on sale for five bucks, so I bought it and Santa brought it to his younger sister. He was about nine years old and a special needs student who still believed in Santa Claus. He was really confused but eventually embraced the elves (we had four or five of them) and he and his sister even caught their mother on a video moving one of the elves at night. One elf is still lurking in the kitchen this holiday season.

  1. No elves on my shelves. (They give me the creeps.) I checked out the video of Powell’s house. What a nightmare! I would be very agitated living such a visually busy house. My favored home decor is hand-me-down, vintage, and antique. And that’s what I have.

  2. Welcome back Elf! I don’t have one but maybe I should!

I admire Emily Powell for having the courage to decorate her house as she likes it but I would find it too overwhelming. I wonder how easy it will be to sell. But maybe now it is finished she wants another blank one to work on.

  3. What a cute collection of s’elves, Janet. I have tons of stuffed Christmas things packed away in my locker. I haven’t found that I’m not ready to put up any decorations since losing my husband. So, good for you! 😋
