He’s Back!

When you get carried away with your Christmas lights…

A Heavenly message ?

Or a Harbinger of Doom?
It’s raining here, but thanks to digital magic here is my favourite brightest Christmas tree from Australia.

Don’t know how I managed that, the bottom 12 % must be really rubbish! Minutes spent includes being distracted, playing with your phone, answering the doorbell and falling asleep – discovering the next morning you are still in the middle of a lesson.

And finally – Home of the Week

Have you got any elves on your shelves?
What décor do you favour for your home?

I read about that artist yesterday. Apparently you can buy tickets to view her artwork!

Yes we have elves all over our house and a rich history of documenting their movements! I feel like I have learned a little French just reading this post.

I’m sure your elves were running around Your house long before we had heard of them over here.

Around 2013, I was babysitting my grandson in a drugstore while I was printing off some pictures right before Christmas. He kept running around the store bringing me things he thought I should buy. They were expensive and we did not need them. Finally he brought me an Elf on the Shelf on sale for five bucks, so I bought it and Santa brought it to his younger sister. He was about nine years old and a special needs student who still believed in Santa Claus. He was really confused but eventually embraced the elves (we had four or five of them) and he and his sister even caught their mother on a video moving one of the elves at night. One elf is still lurking in the kitchen this holiday season.

You obviously embraced the elf culture Geoff. I hope your kitchen elf is enjoying himself.

No elves here, but I enjoy seeing them here and there:)

No elves on my shelves. (They give me the creeps.) I checked out the video of Powell’s house. What a nightmare! I would be very agitated living such a visually busy house. My favored home decor is hand-me-down, vintage, and antique. And that’s what I have.

That sounds good Liz and there is the fun of looking for New old items.

Then we move and have to buy more new old items to fit the new house while keeping all the old stuff.

I just watched the video, far madder than I could have imagined from the newspaper picture! A quick cup of tea with Emily, then I would have to get outside to the nice grey weather we’ve been having.

Welcome back Elf! I don’t have one but maybe I should!
I admire Emily Powell for having the courage to decorate her house as she likes it but I would find it too overwhelming. I wonder how easy it will be to sell. But maybe now it is finished she wants another blank one to work on.

Yes I’m sure you are right. Perhaps she will get a minimalist home all painted white!

Our house is an Elf-free zone. My wife and I differ when it comes to Christmas. She loves everything about it, and for me it is just the 25th of December.
Best wishes, Pete.

What a cute collection of s’elves, Janet. I have tons of stuffed Christmas things packed away in my locker. I haven’t found that I’m not ready to put up any decorations since losing my husband. So, good for you! 😋

What a cute post, Janet. Elves are very Christmassy, but my husband is into snowmen, so elves are limited.

Thanks, yes I like snowmen and had a lovely cuddly one, but my forty year old son has it at their house now as he loves snowmen!

A cudly snowman – well I guess if he was stuffed like ours are! LOL We had real snowmen growing up.

We bought the cuddly snowman on our summer seaside holiday last century. It was a bitterly cold day and we went in a shop to warm up and there he was.
