Today’s stroll started with a long brisk walk, but I’ve saved you that part. We are at the top and the end of Hengistbury Head. It was sunny, but seems to have got cloudy again. At least you can still see the Isle of Wight. I do not know if this yellow object was planted by aliens or…

Look down on Mudeford Sandspit, do you want to go down there?

Would you like one of these beach huts? Some look over the harbour, others out to sea and some lucky ones have a view in both directions.

They cost as much as real houses.

£350,000 or more…

And you can’t stay overnight all year round and have to use the toilet and shower blocks…

Let’s go round to the sea shore.

Rain is threatening so we will walk round the harbour and head back.

Stay on the path here.

This leads to the dark woods of the interior, we are not going to enter in case we get lost or we can’t keep quiet.

Carry on…

… if you are ready for coffee and a little something.

Would you like a beach hut here, or just a walk?

£350k is a lot of money for a beach hut. Mind you, the boats on the canal in Amsterdam cost over €1 million. A pretty walk 😊

It certainly is Robbie and some are sold for more than that!

Great for the owners to have such a lucrative asset

Yes presumably they regard them as an asset, not just a holiday home! Not much privacy with people like me walking by, it’s very busy in summer.

I’m sure but not everyone values peace and quiet.

Just the walk. No toilet is a deal-breaker for me.

Just the walk for me, too!

Yes Lori, at least the walk is free, though when I’m down there I think it would be nice to wake up there and go for an early morning paddle.

That looks like a nice walk, but I’m with Liz when it comes to the beach hut.

Hello Audrey, yes I would rather have my house and garden, though they are much nicer beach huts than my little wooden box!

I wouldn’t pay that much for a beach hut I couldn’t stay in all year round and had to use an outside toilet and shower block into the bargain. As I often say, some people just have too much money, and don’t know what to do with it. They could spend it on something useful, like buying an inshore lifeboat for the RNLI. Best wishes, Pete.

I think the original huts were just built and kept in families, not sure at what stage they became an asset! There is a lifeboat station right nearby.

Here we call them tiny homes…but ours have bathrooms and kitchens and they’re on a chassis so they can be easily moved. I think a nice cup of hot coffee would be essential for a walk on that chilly looking beach.

Hello Judy, I like the sound of tiny homes, which actually must be like our caravans which people like to tow to different caravan sites. There are three coffee stops on this walk, all welcome.

Oh, no. We have caravans of all sizes with more amenities than my house has. Here they’re called motorhomes, or if it’s a towed trailer it’s called an RV. The last time I camped in an RV park, in my little pop-up trailer, the behemoth parked next to my space, had a big screen TV on the OUTSIDE. I suspect they cost as much as the beachside cabins in your photos…and of course, they have bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs.

I think we also have a variety of camper vans though not quite so big as they wouldn’t fit on our roads! One day we were driving behind an old caravan being towed and it started swaying. Luckily all drivers slowed down as the caravan somersaulted into a ditch on the side of the road, taking the car with it! The driver got out unblemished.

I wondered where I left my yellow tripod. I will be back to fetch it soon.

I love the IDEA of a beach hut but doubt if I would get enough use from it to buy one and certainly not at that price. I do like a walk by the sea though.

They are so good when you are sitting in the sun with the kettle on or getting changed after a swim, but gardening and other activities compete for one’s time!
