Where were we in the last blog and where are we going now?

Bobby’s was one of the venues for the fourth Bournemouth Writing Festival. Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the last weekend in April. There was so much going on and a real buzz about town.

Off to one of the other venues…

Inside, a theatre and two studios with events and talks.

There were events at half a dozen venues all near each other and you could also do Writing on the Beach and go to a poetry marquee on Horseshoe Common. Look out for my next blog for my impressions of the festival.

Have you been to writing festivals?

I’ve been to writing festivals, but I haven’t been to one in I-don’t-know-how-long! I look forward to finding out how the Bournemouth one went.

Yes Audrey, it has been so well organised right from the first year.

did you see there was something on recently at the bic? It was incredibly expensive, though.

I remember someone saying they were going to something at the BIC, but can’t remember what it was!

I found out about it late but discovered they were asking £150 for some sessions so immediately, I lost interest. That kind of money seems unreasonable.

Certainly unreasonable, anything with three figures is off limits! We have been to comedy clubs at The Regent and The Lighthouse for £20.

I like that theatre building, very Art Deco. I have never been to any writing festivals. I have been to Hay-on-Wye once, but that wasn’t for the book festival either.
Best wishes, Pete.

You would love to wander round inside. Opened in 1929 it has a theatre with the original Compton organ and a lovely ballroom with sea views. The Dance Studio was created in recent years.

So now I know, but I didn’t, so I had to look it up. What a wonderful display for a book launch or signing! That gives me a clue! I have a book signing for Story Chat Where Stories Meet in two weeks. I should try that! 🙂 xxx Your writing festival looks lovely.

Yes Marsha the best part was so many enthusiastic people and the general buzz and chatting to all sorts of people.

I bet. I would love to have been buzzing all over the place, Janet. It looked like such fun.:)

Hi Janet, I’ve never been to a writing festival. There is nothing like that in South Africa. There are only 40,000 people who buy new books in South Africa according to the stats. It sounds lovely.
