Take a stroll round to the harbour…

And pop inside…

It’s high tide today, but if it was low tide…

You would see this…

One I took earlier, seven years earlier…

Find out who it is later.

In the meantime…

In November they looked like this.

Before you go any further make sure you read the safety instructions!

Do you dare put your hands in the bag?

Time for coffee

Have you been here?
What is your favourite gallery?

Our Fire Marshall would deem the lighted candles on the floor a fire hazard, not art, and shut it down.

Ha ha, yes and I wonder what discussions went on when this exhibit was suggested!

I guess they figured the sign telling parents to hold their children’s hand absolved the museum of any liability in the event something or someone caught on fire?

I have just recalled that as I was heading for the coffee shop the day I visited, a party of young children were coming in!

In that case, good to beat a hasty retreat!

I watched the “Another Time” video. What a fascinating piece of art! I would love to see it in person.

Yes Liz, the video is mesmerising. His other works we have seen were men standing precariously on the corners of London buildings and most dramatic the Angel of the North https://www.picturesofengland.com/England/Tyne_&_Wear/Gateshead/Angel_of_the_North

I think the sculptures are reason enough to visit England!

There’s a trend to using perishable materials in art. That banana comes to mind, as well as the infamous meat dress at the National Gallery of Canada in 1991. I think I prefer this apple exhibit, actually.

Yes Audrey, it does seem to be a trend, the banana being the ultimate in attracting attention!

I do like the candles. They are making a rather lovely landscape. It just needs a model railway to wind through the valleys as the finishing touch, don’t you think?

Yes Stoney, definitely, I love model railways so that would be a perfect idea.

I watched the video too, and it occurred to me that the Gormley sculpture is the opposite of the perishable exhibits. At least until rust does its work.

Hello Audrey, I hadn’t thought of that, but so true. Hopefully he will withstand storms etc.

The men in the sea near Liverpool are startling when you first see them.

The sculpture is lovely, Janet. Decomposing apple art – hmm 🍏🍎

Hello Robbie, yes it is. As for the apples I could have done an art installation with my apple tree and the windfalls.

I always enjoy the Gormley statues. When he had an installation on high buildings in London, numerous 999 calls were received about ‘suicidal people on high buildings’. You could not have done that walk here on Sunday, as we had torrential rain all day and gale-force winds.
Best wishes, Pete.

Hello Pete, yes we saw those figures in London and took some pictures. I bet that was one installation that was not going to stay permanently!
We had the same weather on Sunday and I did that walk from my computer!

Wow lit candles on the floor. Interesting, and interesting art. And no, I won’t dare put my hand in the sensory bag, lol. 🙂

No nor did I Debby, it remains a mystery what is in that bag.

When is Gormley going to do Women in the Sea?

Never probably as all his statues are a replica of his body!

The candles on the ground are interestingly pretty…..the melted wax around the all looks like a floral spread 💛

Yes I wonder if the artist was pleasantly surprised at the developing results.
