A nice day for visiting. Whose home are we going to?

THE LORD PRESERVE THY GOING OUT AND THY COMING IN

A nice bright house and cosy

Wonder if we’ll be invited for dinner?

Let’s explore

We meet the family

The previous Lord Montagu, founder of the Beaulieu Motor Museum, had a very colourful life. The current Lord Montague leaves interesting notes around Beaulieu Palace.

Very nice. I love exploring places like this.

That must have been fun. Where did you start from?

Bailey’s Hard, I think. It was a family adventure day out. There were tiny crabs in the Beaulieu river, 5mm diameter. I uised to like it over there but have not been for a long time.

This is a great share. Question is the table used often?

Apparently for special occasions, but they put the historic chairs away safely and bring ordinary chairs in to sit on! Lord Montague has his office and entertains in the palace, but he and his wife have a smaller house to live in nearby in the village.

Imagine having dinner at that table. I love the scene of the family enjoying Christmas.

Hi, we’re in Italy at the moment. Not having too good a time of it, since hubs skied off a mountain on my birthday and was airlifted to hospital, fortunately with only a broken tibia! I must update my blog, as it’s been an ‘interesting’ journey, and one worth sharing for anyone who thinks travel insurance will do the heavy lifting and get you out of trouble. But I’ve been too busy to do anything much other than keeping us afloat and battling the insurers.
We’re on the better side of things now, though.
I hope life is quieter in Bournemouth! xx

Oh no, calamity, very blogworthy, but traumatic at the time. Best wishes for getting the show on the road again.

The last time I went there was at the end of the 1980s, I remember riding on the monorail for the novelty of it.
Best wishes, Pete.

Hello Pete. When we arrived my daughter said the monorail looked flimsy and we wondered if it was still working! Sure enough a little green train soon appeared and we did go on it. I remember hearing about it when it was installed and imagining a huge site requiring a monorail to get you to the other side, so it’s amusing to find a ten minute ride that goes in a circle.

We never visited Beaulieu. That will change after having seen your post.
The last time we were there this winter it was closed.

Thanks, I think everyone likes the family photo, conveys a real home and a table that must have had so many generations sitting at it.

Fortunately they have to let the public in to look around so they can afford to keep them.
