Friday Fun – Beach Hut Life

  1. I’m not fond of the beaches in So. California even though they are beautiful and cool. Too many people find them attractive. I prefer the mountains to escape the summer heat. It’s easy to find solitude in the woods and my dogs can run freely.

    1. Yes Judy, understandable. I love the beach in winter, when it is empty, though not completely as other people also love winter walks. In winter dogs are allowed on all the beach, in summer it alternates all the way along with dog sections. My friend’s dog loved running in circles on the sand, but would not put a paw in the sea.

      1. In a climate where winter is barely discernible, our beaches are popular year around. I used to go late at night and even then there were people like me enjoying the surf and stars.

  2. WOW! I’ve never seen the mythical white goat! Only the mythical Southbourne polar bear…

My fave beach activities are walking The Fab Four on THAT VERY BEACH! And windsurfing, of course 🙂

Thank you for sharing, Janet, I love the little taste of home while we’re away – and your rainbow photo is just stupendous!

      1. The Fab Four are half poodle, and were brought up on SOBO Beach, so they love the water. Rosie is a real surf dude, and body surfs in the waves! We don’t take them windsurfing, because to turn, the sail has to be able to sweep around the front and back of the board, so a pupster would be in the way. The Fab Four do accompany us on SUPs, though and we do have an inflatable boat – which we’ve never yet used…!

      2. I think my friend’s dog looks more poodle and gets her energy and brains from her poodle dad! She has been up Scafell Pike and the local professional dog walker takes his pack to the Lune estuary as well as by the river.

  3. I’m glad to know that your beach hut has survived natural disasters and coastal erosion. My favourite thing at the beach is simply to sit and look at the sea. I’m easily pleased.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Yes so far so good. Funnily my sister’s brother-in-law in Canberra heard about the fairly recent beach hut fire in Bournemouth, at the time and was worried if my beach hut was alright. Quite amusing considering the hundreds and hundreds of beach huts there are!

  4. Like others I prefer the beach out of Season when it is quiet. There are some lovely ones here where we can walk the beach one way and the Coastal Path the other making a circuit. And I enjoy a paddle if it is warm.

  5. I love the beach, mostly walking along the edge of the ocean even though the water is cold in CA. We still haven’t brought our little dog to the beach, and I can’t wait to do that. I like that it’s less crowded in the winter. 🙂 Have a great rest of your weekend. 🙂 Marsha xxx

  6. That white goat was quite a sighting, not something I’d expect to see – staring right at the camera!! Beach walks in winter are lovely, but if it’s a hot day/place, I’m more likely to be laying in the shade 🏖

    1. I retreat to my beach hut shade if it’s too hot. The council run herds of goats to keep the vegetation under control in an environmentally friendly way. They come in various colours, but are often hard to spot. I had to zoom in with my phone.
