How you imagine Beach Hut Life.

It’s better with the sound effects of howling wind – when you realise you might not be going for a swim today…

Don’t lean on the fence to look over…

WHOOPS…

But the sun is still shining…

…and you can have a paddle.

Smooth sand and rough sea

Perfect weather for some…

We had an evening photography club shoot at my beach hut and were lucky enough to see the mythical White Goat.

And a treasure hunter who was obviously looking in the wrong spot for a pot of gold.

What are you preferred beach activities?

I like to read at the beach.

Yes so do I and always have a book on the go at my beach hut.

I’m not fond of the beaches in So. California even though they are beautiful and cool. Too many people find them attractive. I prefer the mountains to escape the summer heat. It’s easy to find solitude in the woods and my dogs can run freely.

Yes Judy, understandable. I love the beach in winter, when it is empty, though not completely as other people also love winter walks. In winter dogs are allowed on all the beach, in summer it alternates all the way along with dog sections. My friend’s dog loved running in circles on the sand, but would not put a paw in the sea.

It’s funny, when we moved to the beach, people often said, “Oooh, that must be awful in winter.”
I always replied that winter is my favourite time – when it’s quiet. And I do love to watch a storm and listen to the waves crashing.

Yes indeed, winter at the coast is great, if they say on the news during Big Storms, avoid coastal areas that is a signal to get to the cliff top!

In a climate where winter is barely discernible, our beaches are popular year around. I used to go late at night and even then there were people like me enjoying the surf and stars.

My preferred beach activities are walking along the edge of the water and sitting on a warm rock to watch the water.

Hello Liz, yes one of the most pleasant ways to enjoy the sea.

Walking along the water’s edge and sitting on a log (we have lots of those on beaches here) and wave-watching, which is a perfect way to zone out.

Yes Audrey that does sound perfect and why lots of us are drawn to the sea.

WOW! I’ve never seen the mythical white goat! Only the mythical Southbourne polar bear…
My fave beach activities are walking The Fab Four on THAT VERY BEACH! And windsurfing, of course 🙂
Thank you for sharing, Janet, I love the little taste of home while we’re away – and your rainbow photo is just stupendous!

Hello Jacqueline, so far you are the only person to name water sports! Do the Fab four get their paws wet?

The Fab Four are half poodle, and were brought up on SOBO Beach, so they love the water. Rosie is a real surf dude, and body surfs in the waves! We don’t take them windsurfing, because to turn, the sail has to be able to sweep around the front and back of the board, so a pupster would be in the way. The Fab Four do accompany us on SUPs, though and we do have an inflatable boat – which we’ve never yet used…!

Hello Jacqueline, I think people forget that poodles were bred for the water. My friend’s Caverpoo goes in the river at home and she loves the beach but won’t go in the water.

Perhaps your friend’s dog is more Cava than poo!
The Fab Four are Cavapoos, and have different attitudes to water. Kai and Rosie love swimming, Ruby likes a paddle, and Lani will only go in if we do – or if there are ducks…

I think my friend’s dog looks more poodle and gets her energy and brains from her poodle dad! She has been up Scafell Pike and the local professional dog walker takes his pack to the Lune estuary as well as by the river.

First I like bathing in the sea. Then, building castles on the shore, picking shells, reading under the umbrella, walking barefoot with the feet touched by waves…

Hello Marina, you can’t beat swimming in the sea and glad to hear you enjoy all the other beach activities.

I’m glad to know that your beach hut has survived natural disasters and coastal erosion. My favourite thing at the beach is simply to sit and look at the sea. I’m easily pleased.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes so far so good. Funnily my sister’s brother-in-law in Canberra heard about the fairly recent beach hut fire in Bournemouth, at the time and was worried if my beach hut was alright. Quite amusing considering the hundreds and hundreds of beach huts there are!

Like others I prefer the beach out of Season when it is quiet. There are some lovely ones here where we can walk the beach one way and the Coastal Path the other making a circuit. And I enjoy a paddle if it is warm.

That sounds the sort of walk I would like.

I love the beach, mostly walking along the edge of the ocean even though the water is cold in CA. We still haven’t brought our little dog to the beach, and I can’t wait to do that. I like that it’s less crowded in the winter. 🙂 Have a great rest of your weekend. 🙂 Marsha xxx

I like to walk along the beach and look at the ocean. I’m allergic to sea water so no swimming.

That white goat was quite a sighting, not something I’d expect to see – staring right at the camera!! Beach walks in winter are lovely, but if it’s a hot day/place, I’m more likely to be laying in the shade 🏖

I retreat to my beach hut shade if it’s too hot. The council run herds of goats to keep the vegetation under control in an environmentally friendly way. They come in various colours, but are often hard to spot. I had to zoom in with my phone.

I enjoy walking the beach. I much prefer sunning at a pool without sand in my bathing suit though, lol. Fun pics! 😍

Ha ha Debby, that’s why I like my beach hut as I can lounge in the sun sand free.
