Friday Fun – Margate Meander

Who is this lady and what is she looking at?

Arlington House is an 18-storey residential apartment and commercial block in the Brutalist style on the seafront of Margate, Kent, England, next to Margate railway station and Dreamland Margate. It was developed by Bernard Sunley and designed by Russel Diplock, and is known for every apartment having a sea view.’

  1. When I saw the picture of the lady made of shells, I thought, “Well, I don’t know who she is, but I bet she sells seashells on the sea shore”. It’s funny how the mind works, isn’t it?

    1. Hello Pete, no it would not have been, find out more next time. When our eldest was a toddler we went to Margate on an Away-A-Day train trip. Leaving London it was sunny but by the time we got to Kent, fog descended and the fog did not lift, so we had no idea what Margate looked like until our daughter and son-in-law decided to move there in 2015.

  2. What a perfect day for a walk, you had the beach all to yourself, great for thinking and clearing the head…I wouldn’t have dared to go more than a few metres out though, the tide can come in fast 🌊
