It is not raining in this picture, but it has been raining A LOT.

No one is sitting by the river today.

Only a blogger or photographer would be stupid enough to walk here.

It is high tide.

Long ago this would have been swamp and flood plains, but humans like to tidy things up and build barriers…

No ferry today

Someone’s enjoying the water.

Time to cross the river…

…by bridge…

…and walk home up hill!

The intrepid blogger! I love this line: “Only a blogger or photographer would be stupid enough to walk here.”

Luckily Liz we were sensible enough to buy a house on the cliff top, not near the edge as bits of cliff regularly fall down!

Our east coast and west coast have severe cliff erosion.

Our countries are getting smaller and smaller! We have cliff falls regularly.

You’d think that ocean-front builders would have learned by now.

A hippopotamus in the wild? That is so cool! (All that flooding isn’t cool, but seeing a hippo is.)

We, bloggers, have been known to do some stupid things.

Poor old Iford always gets it – we saw it on the national news.
I love the hippo, though! Good to see someone has a sense of humour, in spite of everything.
In Bournemouth, it’s good to live away from the eroding cliffs and away from the rivers! One Christmas, our house was turned into Atlantis! It was cut off by the Stour flooding, although fortunately, the house itself stayed dry! One of our neighbours had to ferry everyone in and out with his tractor! (We didn’t have The Beast then. She can drive through a metre-and-a-half of water!)
I’m glad you had to walk home uphil…

When we were looking to move away I said I have to be near the sea or a river and Cyberspouse said rivers flood. Luckily we could not afford a sea view… But we are ‘up the top’.

crazy weather. I haven’t been down for a few weeks but have arranged to visit tomorrow – I’ll see for myself how high the Avon is down to Ringwood.

The best pictures would have been at Iford Bridge, where they have to evacuate the park homes every year!

I heard that mentioned on the national news the other day, but I’ve not been down that way since the summer. Will settle for supping coffee in Sobo tomorrow.

Thanks Carol and fortunately I live up the top, not by the river!

That’s good ,Janet not good if flooding enters your property or keeps you isolated 🙂

I have been complaining about the endless rain, Janet. But compared to what I see in those photos, we have had it easy.
Best wishes, Pete.

I have been complaining about the endless rain as well Pete. I prefer seeing it in the rivers and not falling on me!

I do hope that hippos haven’t been seen in SE England! Though maybe in a few years if it keeps on raining as it has this winter …. Stay dry and safe!

I do not need to live on the water but it needs to be nearby where I can visit it!

Yes Geoff, that is the best way to deal with water.

Is that a hippo statue? It had me puzzled for a moment.

Alas he is not real so he can’t compete with your wild life shots Robbie. He does live in Christchurch Harbour…

I assumed that must be the case because you don’t get hippos in England ☺️

Maybe… story idea, I can just imagine a real hippo waddling ashore amongst the swans.
