Long ago this would have been swamp and flood plains, but humans like to tidy things up and build barriers…

Luckily Liz we were sensible enough to buy a house on the cliff top, not near the edge as bits of cliff regularly fall down!

Poor old Iford always gets it – we saw it on the national news.
I love the hippo, though! Good to see someone has a sense of humour, in spite of everything.
In Bournemouth, it’s good to live away from the eroding cliffs and away from the rivers! One Christmas, our house was turned into Atlantis! It was cut off by the Stour flooding, although fortunately, the house itself stayed dry! One of our neighbours had to ferry everyone in and out with his tractor! (We didn’t have The Beast then. She can drive through a metre-and-a-half of water!)

When we were looking to move away I said I have to be near the sea or a river and Cyberspouse said rivers flood. Luckily we could not afford a sea view… But we are ‘up the top’.

crazy weather. I haven’t been down for a few weeks but have arranged to visit tomorrow – I’ll see for myself how high the Avon is down to Ringwood.

I do hope that hippos haven’t been seen in SE England! Though maybe in a few years if it keeps on raining as it has this winter …. Stay dry and safe!
